LinkedIn Sales Navigator Integration

Bring LinkedIn messages into Backstory to unlock richer sales insights.

The LinkedIn Sales Navigator Integration allows Backstory to pull LinkedIn messages (InMails and direct messages) directly from your CRM. Once ingested, these activities appear in Backstory alongside your other data, giving your team a more complete picture of customer engagement.


Prerequisites

In order for the the LinkedIn integration to work correctly:

  • Your CRM must be integrated with LinkedIn Sales Navigator.

  • LinkedIn activities must be logged to your CRM by your team.

  • The user attached to each LinkedIn message must be an active Backstory user.


Enable LinkedIn Message Ingestion

Contact your CSM or email support@backstory.ai to request that LinkedIn message ingestion be enabled for your account.


Log LinkedIn Messages in Your CRM

Before sending a business relevant message in LinkedIn, check the Log to CRM checkbox. Once logged, Backstory will ingest the message as an activity automatically.

Note: If you do not see the Log to CRM checkbox, confirm that LinkedIn Sales Navigator is properly connected to your CRM.


Frequently Asked Questions

Do my personal LinkedIn InMails get sent to Backstory?

No. Only messages and InMails sent through the Sales Navigator interface and logged to your CRM will be ingested. Backstory pulls activities from your CRM directly, not from LinkedIn.

Are LinkedIn activities included in the Backstory Engagement Level calculation?

Not currently. LinkedIn activities are not factored into the Engagement Level calculation, though this is planned for a future update.

Can Backstory integrate directly with LinkedIn Sales Navigator without a CRM?

No. A direct integration is not currently supported. Backstory sources LinkedIn activities from your CRM, so your CRM must be connected to LinkedIn Sales Navigator first.

Will Backstory re-match LinkedIn activities to different records?

No. Activities pulled from your CRM will use the existing CRM record link as the match result and will not be re-matched by Backstory.
