Cell Drill-In

Want to better understand the data that comprises the activity levels within your dashboards? Cell drill-in enables you to click into any activity-related metric to see the who, what, when, and where of those individual activities.

How it Works

Cell drill-in is available for any Backstory metrics, which can be identified by the Backstory logo on the Add Column modal on your Engagement Dashboard.

This includes fields such as the number of Meetings, percentage of Outbound Emails, Upcoming Meetings with Executives or VPs, etc.

To drill into a cell, simply click on the cell once.

From there, a sidebar will appear with a list of each activity that comprises the metric you’ve clicked on.

This sidebar will feature several key details that will help you better understand the who, what, and when of each activity.

  1. Account/Opportunity Details: This section lists key information about the engaged object, including the owner, the number of open Opportunities, and the current Engagement Level.

  2. Expand/Collapse All: Quickly expand or collapse all listed activities to better navigate the list.

  3. Activity Details: Each activity will be listed individually, specifying the object to which it is related and the date and time it took place in your local time.

  4. Participant Details: Best of all, these activities will provide detailed information about activity participants, including seniority, department, job title, meeting RSVP status, and other relevant details.

Also available within these listed activities is the ability to view the activity in CRM (if it was synced), and the ability to view why the activity matched the way it did, and rematch if desired.

Types of Cell Drill-In

There are three types of cell drill-in found in Engagement Dashboards.

The first, activity-based metrics, are available for any cells based on activity, such as meetings, calls, emails, etc.

The next is Opportunity count metrics. This type of cell drill-in is available anywhere Opportunities are listed numerically, such as Opportunities engaged, for example.

Lastly, there are Account count metrics, which are only found on Team dashboards. Similar to Opportunity count metrics, these will list out Accounts represented in a metric, like so:

Things to Consider

  • Activities in Backstory may not always reflect real-time updates of what’s happening.

  • Activity-based drill-ins only show activities where the current user or user’s team members are participants.

  • Participant attributes, including job title and department, will be displayed only if available.
