Saving and Assigning

When you’re done designing your dashboard, be sure to save to ensure no work is lost! While saving, however, you have a few options that determine who, if anyone, also has access to your dashboard.

How it Works

From any dashboard that you’ve created, you can find the Save button in the top-right corner. There, you’ll find a few options in addition to the standard save that will lock in any changes you’ve made.

  1. Available to everyone: If enabled, your dashboard will be visible to all Backstory users from the dashboard sidebar.

  2. Assign: The assign option gives you the ability to select exactly which Backstory users you’d like to grant access to your dashboard.

  3. Save As: This option saves your dashboard and creates a copy. This is ideal for ensuring your original dashboard isn’t mistakenly edited by others.

  4. Save As and Assign: This option will create a copy of your dashboard and then open the Assign prompt.

  5. Delete: Created a monster and want to start fresh? The delete option will permanently remove your dashboard and redirect you to the home page.

Things to Consider

  • Any other users with access to your dashboard will be able to make edits freely. Best practice is to assign copies to ensure your work isn’t lost.

  • Your dashboards won’t be visible to others unless you specifically assign it to others, or enable the visible to everyone option.

  • Administrators can view all dashboards, regardless of whether they’ve been shared.
