Relationship Map Templates

Relationship Map Templates let you create pre-built department structures that users can apply when starting a new Relationship Map, replacing the blank canvas with a ready-made layout. Instead of manually adding each department one by one, users can select a template and begin placing stakeholders right away. This reduces setup time, promotes consistent map structure across your team, and increases adoption of Relationship Maps across opportunities and accounts.

Note: Configuring Relationship Map Templates requires a ClosePlan administrator account.


Create a Relationship Map Template

These steps walk you through creating a Relationship Map Template so it becomes available to end users when they create a new map.

  1. Navigate to the ClosePlan Admin tab in Salesforce.

  2. Select Relationship Templates from the left menu.

  3. Click Add a Template.

  4. Enter a name for the template in the Name field.

  5. Enter a description in the Description field.

  6. Click the Availability dropdown and select whether the template applies to Opportunities, Accounts, or Both.

  7. Check the Default Template box if you want this template to be selected automatically when users create a new map.

  8. Add the departments you want to include in the template structure.

  9. Click the Status dropdown and select Active to make the template available to end users.

  10. Click Save.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can use Relationship Map Templates?

All ClosePlan customers have access to Relationship Map Templates. No additional license or feature enablement is required.

Do I need to do anything to activate this feature?

No special activation is needed. However, an admin must create at least one template in ClosePlan Admin > Relationship Templates and set its status to Active before templates appear for end users.

Can users modify a template after applying it to a map?

Yes. After a template is applied, users can adjust the structure, including the title, description, and department layout, to better fit the customer's organization.

Will contacts be added to the map automatically when a template is applied?

No. ClosePlan-only customers will need to add stakeholders manually to the map after the template is applied. Customers using ClosePlan with Backstory can use the Establish Hierarchy with AI feature to place stakeholders into the appropriate positions on the map.

What if the template does not match my customer's org structure?

Templates are a starting point. Users can add, remove, or rearrange departments after applying the template to reflect the actual organization.

How do customers access this feature if they have not upgraded yet?

Customers can upgrade to the latest release either by clicking the Releases tab directly in ClosePlan or by using the upgrade link sent via email.
