Overview
The SAML integration, which typically takes place during onboarding, is critical in that it enables your team to authenticate safely and securely into the Backstory web application at scale.
The below steps will guide you through the simple process of getting this key integration up and running.
Please note, in order to complete the following process, you'll need to have admin privileges both in Backstory and in Okta.
Steps to Complete
Step 1: Log into your Okta dashboard and click Admin, which is located in the top-right corner of the page.
Step 2: On the following screen, click Applications -> Applications via the left-hand sidebar menu.
Step 3: Click Browse App Catalog.
Step 4: Search for Backstory.
Step 5: Click Add Integration.
Step 6: Once installed, click the Sign On tab, scroll down, and click View SAML setup Instructions.
Step 7: On the following page, under Configuration Steps, copy the metadata URL.
Step 8: Log into the Backstory web application and navigate to the Single Sign On page.
Step 9: Click Add Provider.
Step 10: Add Okta as the Identity Provider Name, and paste the Metadata URL copied from step 7. This will automatically populate the last required field, Entity ID.
Step 11: Click Next.
Step 12: On the final screen, click Backstory is Integrated, and click Save!
Step 13: Click the Test Integration button to ensure your login completes correctly.
Step 14: Publish the new SAML integration via the toggle.
Step 15: Set your new integration as the primary authentication method. This is a one-time step that should not need to change unless your SAML service provider changes.
