New Product Releases

Discover new features built to streamline your workflow.

Backstory’s October 2026 product release includes new MCP tools for flexible CRM record search, expanded forecasting capabilities, guided forecast setup, and new controls for Sheet creation. These updates help you access CRM data more easily, gain better visibility into forecast trends, and customize the Backstory App experience for your organization.

Flexible Record Search MCP Tools

Find the CRM records you need by asking natural-language questions in AI clients like Claude and ChatGPT. Two new MCP tools, Preview Records and Fetch Records, let you search for accounts and opportunities by specific criteria, review matching filters and sorting, and retrieve up to 1,000 records directly in your AI session.

Forecasting Fiscal Year View

You can now view your forecast by fiscal year in addition to the existing weekly and quarterly views. The new fiscal year view displays a row for each quarter and annual totals.

Guided Flexible Forecast Setup

Forecast setup is made easier with a new guided setup wizard that walks administrators through configuration steps in sequence. Setup is also more flexible. Administrators can build forecasts using Salesforce objects other than Opportunity, and they can source measure, date, and ownership fields from related objects.

Weekly Forecast Trends Email

The Weekly Forecast Trends Email is now available to all customers who use Backstory Forecasting. Administrators can set up an automatic weekly email that highlights forecast trends so you can spot potential risks early.

App Controls for Sheet Creation

App Controls in the Backstory Admin Panel lets administrators control which users can create new Sheets in the Backstory App. Admins can let everyone create custom Sheets in the Backstory App or limit creation to authorized users, helping teams maintain consistent, standardized views of their CRM data.
