Search Bar

Salesforce can be an overwhelming environment for larger organizations that may have thousands of active accounts, opportunities, and campaigns at any given time. With that in mind, the Search Bar in Backstory was introduced to help you cut through the clutter and dive into exactly what you’re interested in.

Where to find it

The Search Bar is conveniently accessible throughout the entire application in the top-right corner of the navigation bar. You’ll also find the Search Bar centrally located on the Home Page.

How it works

Start typing in the search field and you'll see the available matches below. The search is dynamic, meaning that the results will update automatically as you type.

Results are alphabetically grouped into People, Accounts, and Opportunities. You will also see the number of matches found for each category.

Let's take a closer look at a sample search and its results:

By default, you'll have options to search for People, Accounts, and Opportunities first. Clicking into those options will take you to ProSpector, where you can customize your search further.

Below, you'll see some best-match search results. These will be the people and objects from your CRM most related to what you searched for.

Things to Consider

  • We recommend typing at least three symbols to narrow the results and substantially speed up the process.

  • The number of initially shown results for each category is limited to 500. This is still a lot, so instead of scrolling down, please consider narrowing your search by typing a more specific request.

  • The Engagement Score for an Opportunity will not load automatically if there are multiple results. You can either hover over the result title to load it or narrow the search so that fewer results are displayed.
