Business Impact

Similar to CRM Impact, Business Impact was created to communicate the estimated business impact provided by Backstory. It’s been designed from the ground up to make it easy for Backstory admins to easily share business impacts with peers and stakeholders.

Separated into at-a-glance cards, this page is structured to highlight the estimated business value for certain aspects of the Backstory product.

Furthermore, each card features an “impact highlight” at the bottom, which provides a concise summary that's easy to understand, even for those unfamiliar with Backstory.

How it works

The Business Impact page utilizes data such as contacts and opportunity contacts created, as well as activities synced, and translates this raw data into values relevant to your business.

Certain cards allow your organization to assign custom values used to calculate the final dollar amounts for that card. For example, the Value of Contacts Created by Seniority card requires that each tier of contact be assigned a unique dollar amount.

Note: If a value is edited and saved on any of the cards, it is visible to the entire organization.

This can be accomplished by clicking the Edit Value button, where available.

Cards Available

Currently, there are two cards available on the Business Impact page.

  • Value of Time Saved

    Manually creating tasks, events, and contacts in Salesforce is time-consuming, and overall not a great use of time for salesmen and women who’d rather be in the field generating revenue.
    This card is intended to communicate the value of the data that is captured on behalf of your teams. By performing some basic calculations based on the time required to log something into Salesforce and the salary of someone who would manually capture this data, this card can generate a rough estimate of the value of the data that Backstory generates.

  • Value of Contacts Created by Seniority

    Traditionally, marketers purchased large, expensive lists of contacts with potentially outdated information, hoping to eventually generate a pipeline. Being that Backstory generates marketable contacts automatically, this card surfaces just how much money your organization is saving over the selected timeframe.
    The 'Others' section of this card comprises contacts without a title.

  • The numbers and valuations shown on this page are a rough estimate of the business impact provided by Backstory.

  • The data shown on the Business Impact page is always a reflection of the current state. In other words, the amounts and values may change if activities or contacts are deleted and/or synced at any point in the past.
