Great news, Backstory now supports integrating with Oracle Sales Cloud! This document outlines the steps to enable Backstory to connect to your Oracle Sales Cloud instance.
Sandbox vs. Production Integration: If you are implementing on OSC sandbox first before moving to OSC production, please note that you will need separate certificates for sandbox and production.
Create a Backstory Integration User in Oracle Sales Cloud
This is done in Oracle Sales Cloud Setup. Create a new role in Oracle Sales Cloud that has read access to all fields in the following objects (if such a role exists already, it can be reused):
Account
Opportunity
Contact
Sales Lead
Resource User
Sales Team Member
Currencies
Opportunity Contact
Opportunity Stage Snapshot
Opportunity Team Member
Sales Stage
Resource Role Assign
Partner Account
Partner Contact
Activities
Territories for Sales (NOTE: Sales Territories object is deprecated)
Create a new user in Oracle Sales Cloud specifically for API integration with Backstory. Assign the above role to this user.
Download the JWT certificate from Backstory
This is done in Backstory Setup. Download a JWT certificate issued by Backstory and upload it to Oracle. This must be done before CRM integration settings can be saved in Backstory. To download the certificate:
Log in to Backstory as an admin and navigate to Integrations
Click on Add Integration, and choose "Oracle”
Click the Download button to download the .jwt file to your computer
Note: Do not proceed with the CRM Integration settings in Backstory.
The certificate must be uploaded to Oracle before CRM Integration settings can be saved in Backstory.
Upload the JWT certificate to Oracle Sales Cloud
This action is done in Oracle Sales Cloud Setup. Upload the JWT certificate to the appropriate API security certificate repository in the Oracle Sales Cloud setup.
Navigate to Tools > Security Console > API Authentication
Click the Create Oracle API Authentication Provider button
Click the Edit button and fill in the Trusted Issuer, and select 'JWT' as the Token Type.
Click on Inbound API Authentication Public Certificates on the left-hand bar.
Click on Add New Certificate and upload the certificate
Specify and Save Oracle CRM settings in Backstory
This is done in Backstory Setup. Specify the Oracle CRM Integration settings in Backstory
As an admin user, log in to Backstory and navigate to Integrations
Click the Add Integration button and choose Oracle
Specify the following:
Display Name: Enter something like “Oracle Integration User”
User Name: OSC login for the Backstory integration user (e.g., “sales.admin”)
Host Name: OSC host name URL. Include https://
Click the Save button.
JWT Certificate Expiration Details
JWT certificates expire after one year. To update your certificate annually, you will need to repeat the steps in this document to download the new certificate from Backstory and upload it to Oracle Sales Cloud.
Note: A new certificate will be available at least a month before your current certificate expires.
From your Integrations page, download the new certificate, and repeat the steps in this document to add the new certificate to Oracle Sales Cloud. Then, go back to the Oracle CRM Settings page in Backstory and click on “Switch to new certificate” to update the integration settings.
